CRG develops Tourism Emergency Response Network as part of Microsoft partnership with the World Tourism Organization
Civic Resource Group is working with Microsoft Corporation and the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) to develop a new portal system to aggregate information on catastrophes affecting tourism, and provide a new framework for improved industry response. The portal will bring together public and sector specific data, incorporating tools for information sharing and improved messaging. It will assist tourism destinations and stakeholders to respond more rapidly and effectively in emergencies and help recovery programs. The project is part of a new Public Private Partnership (PPP) with Microsoft to provide one stop information on catastrophes affecting the tourism sector, with avian flu as its initial point of focus.

Municipal WiFi portal provides model case study in promoting
economic development and universal access
Reflecting a growing trend in Municipal
WiFi, the City of Los Angeles is in the process of building
a citywide WiFi network to establish wireless Internet capabilities
across the city. The plan calls for encouraging the adoption
of a public/private partnership business model to deploy fast
and easy broadband communications services in every neighborhood,
and minimize gaps in existing service. With this in mind the
City has turned to CRG to develop the portal for accessing
WiFi hotspots which includes tight integration with the award
winning ExperienceLA.com portal system.
The project is a model in cross agency collaboration
and public-private partnering while utilizing the collective
resources and domain expertise from throughout the Southern
California region. The coalition of partners came together
in the firm belief that no single organization can achieve
the all encompassing and interconnected project goals. In
addition to the Los Angeles WiFi project CRG is providing
strategic planning assistance to numerous other public agencies
on WiFi and public broadband access.
